Giuliani WInes

Stories of wine and family that get through the time

In the heart of Murgia Barese, in the hills streching from Turi to Gioia del Colle, the Giuliani Vini was founded, attended with love and experience and grown up under the present guide of Vito Donato Giuliani. The geographical exposure and the Mediterranean climate of the territories where the vineyards extend allow the bunches to reach the right ripening level and give the wines unique qualities. The intense purple red characterising the grape of Primitivo and Aleatico enlightens and defines, during ripening, the apulian area where it extends and generates, year after year, very extraordinary and unique wines. The estate covers an area of about fifty hectares along the street called “under the channel”, near the archeological park of Monte Sannace. The production cycle is followed with care and passion in order to obtain wines of high quality. The harvest follows experience and tradition and it is still hand made. Vinification and bottling are carried out by the oenologist Luca Petrelli and the agronomist and owner Donato Giuliani.

Primitivo Gioia del Colle

NOTES OF AN APULIAN NATIVE WINE
Primitivo is an apulian native vine with a medium vigour black berry, that gives great production but not so constant. History tells it comes from Dalmatia and then arrives to Apulia thanks to the Illiri around3000 years ago. One of its characteristics is the late sprouting, between the second half of April and the first week of May, that lets it protect from the spring frost, frequent on the apulian hilly areas. The name comes from the harvest that is carried out earlier than ordinary time, between the end of August and the first half of September. Primitivo Gioia del Colle DOC is a delicate wine, complex, harmonic, soft and pleasant to the palate.

Giuliani WINES

OUR VARIETAL WINES

The vines included in the composition of the territory of Gioia del Colle are made of residuals from the calcareous rocks dissolution, containing oxides and hydroxides of iron and aluminium. It is a clay land, rich of potassium and poor of organics, perfect for the plantation of excellent red and white wines. The vineyard sinks its roots into the calcareous land under the thin fertile layer. The elevation of the vine territories ranges between 800 and 1,500 feet ( 200 mt and 450 mt) ( on the sea level, on light grades, extending towards south-east.
